The Vote

After recognizing that it wasn't sustainable to maintain two church buildings (one in Athens, PA and one in Waverly, NY), committees of the congregation spent a year and a half collectively working on how to settle on one church location.

An architect was hired, and he made a proposal to the congregation in a called meeting on Sunday, January 24, 2016. (The proposal)

Following several listening sessions with the congregation, the Session called the congregation to act on the following motion:

To approve the recommendation of AJH Design, as presented at the Congregational Meeting on January 24, 2016 to renovate the Waverly location church building. This would include demolition of the current "Social Hall building," construction of a replacement building, and renovation of the sanctuary. chapel, and lounge areas.  Total cost of this work would not exceed $1.5million.

The congregation voted as follows:

67 in favor of the proposal

30 not in favor
